A very nice, family oriented park. Do not rely on your GPS, (especially TomTom) to get you here. Unless you are traveling on Rte 80, this park is somewhat confusing to find. I noticed that the office fielded alot of calls from folks coming in, who were lost. The only complaints I have were the fact that there was no Wi-Fi. You had to sit on the porch of the office, or at the pool to use a wireless signal. That being said, the buildings are smoke free. However, there are ashtrays strategically placed everywhere outside! This includes the office porch and the pool area. As a non-smoking family with small children, we didn't want to be exposed to smoke, or see butts and ashes everywhere. The owners are super nice people. They bought this CG 5 years ago, and have been working steadily to improve it. There is a new pavilion and new pool this year. The pool was sparkling clean. Its a salt water pool, which was a first for us. There were alot of activities planned over Labor Day Weekend. There is a nice mini-golf area, as well as a very nice, well maintained playground area. There is alot of room for kids to run and play, and you would have a hard time finding any trash around the CG. The owner even cleans out the firepits when you leave. They also enforce the curfews and the speed limit through the CG. The CG has alot of seasonals, and I only noted a few that were not well kept. We would definitely return!

This CG was lacking in a lot of areas, beginning with the rudeness of the office staff. They do have a lot of activities planned throughout the week. The bathrooms near us were filthy, and remained that way the entire 5 days we were there. The only ventilation in the bathroom was a box fan plugged in next to the sink. Not sure how safe that is. The pool was warm, but dirty. It was only cleaned in the early morning. Hookups are at the far rear of the site. Sites are small and cramped. There are a lot of very unfriendly members and seasonals who think they own the place. It was really neat to have a pasture, corn fields, and petting zoo as part of the facility. The best part of the CG is that it was centrally located within 45 min of Lancaster, Hershey, and Gettysburg. If you plan to stay in the near future, beware of a bridge that's out next door to the CG.

We chose this CG due to its central location to Gettysburg/Lancaster/Hershey area, and because of its excellent ratings. Although it is a time share type membership, we were not approached to buy into it. In fact, when I attempted to access the main site online, it stated that they were not currently selling in Pa, and the brochure that was given @ check in was for FL, starting @ $1500 for 3 mos. The CG itself is beautiful. When you check in, you are told to drive around, pick an empty site to your liking, and advise the office of your selection. The CG is at least 50% seasonal. It is clean, and the sites are decent sized but somewhat uneven, and the utilities are @ the far back of the site. Most sites are shaded, and Wi-Fi is available for a daily, weekly or monthly fee, which was reasonable. I was put off by the staff, from the first time I called. I was told to call back in 2 weeks, since they don't rent to non members until they know how many members will be utilizing the facilities in a specific time period. When I called back in 2 weeks, I was given the # of a main office in another state. Whoever answered the phone there had to contact this CG to see if the sites were available. It was very unorganized, and took several hrs to finalize. The website advises of a bridge that is out near the CG. WOW! What a MESS! The office stated that it was open to CG traffic. HA! Its non existent, and when I called as we were coming, the lady who answered spoke to me as if I was a total idiot for not being familiar w/ some route that the locals use. When we arrived, she again spoke to me in this manner. My career is to locate homes in a timely manner, as peoples' lives depend on it. Trust me, this detour is confusing, and anyone coming in should be notified when they make reservations. I am so grateful to have full hook up, because the bathrooms near us were a MESS. Muddy, dirty, paper products everywhere, trash overflowing, and no ventilation at all. There is a box fan plugged into an outlet by the sink, not sure how safe that is, and my daughter had to wipe urine off the toilet seat to use it. the store is decent enough, and has very reasonable hand dipped ice cream. There is a petting zoo which was really neat, as well as a few livestock in a fence. I felt really badly for the livestock. They were literally covered in hundreds of flies, and there are measures that can be taken to alleviate this. In conclusion, the CG is decent but could be better with a few improvements which could begin with the office staff learning how to deal with the public. The area surrounding the CG is absolutely gorgeous with rolling farmland.

We didn't stay here, but we drove through on a visitors pass. WOW!!! Its beautiful, and we will definitely stay here for our next visit to Cooks Forest. The pool is large and very nice. The sites are grassy and level. The restrooms are the nicest I have ever seen. The owners are so very nice.

CG was OK. Seemed a bit unorganized. When we booked the site, we were told early check in was OK. When we arrived, we were told there was a late check out on our site, and it wouldn't be available for hours! Fortunately, it was not very busy and we were able check in @ a different site. The young girls working were not very well trained, and the owner seemed a bit "standoffish". No Wi-Fi. You have to sit on the porch of the store for a possible signal. I used the restrooms once, and was VERY glad to have full hook up. Perhaps I used them at a bad time, but they were in need of a cleaning. Not just swept and mopped, but power washed and painted, at minimum. 2 very nice playgrounds. There are about 75% seasonals, and they are friendly enough. The seasonal sites are not run down at all. The pool was large, but I am not certain that it was heated, as advertised. There were no activities during the week. Be sure to have leveling equipment. Sites are gravel, and clean. They even clean out the fire pits.

Newer, small CG. There is only one street, with mostly seasonals on one side. Seasonal s are friendly. In fact, everywhere we went to local towns, everyone was incredibly friendly. The large pool kept my daughter occupied, otherwise there were no activities. Large playground on the other side of the pool. The pool was dated, but decent. Maintenance drives through the CG several times a day, collecting trash, which you leave at the front of your site. There is no camp store, only the pool office, so once its closed, you are on your own. Sites are large and grassy. We would return.

We camped here over Memorial Day Weekend 09. New owners took over in the last 6 weeks or so. This is a small, rural CG. It is very quiet, peaceful and close to nature. They have a small store stocked with all the basics, and they devote several hrs a day to cleaning the bath rooms. There are not many amenities, so if you have small children, take something to keep them entertained. My daughter was able to ride her bike, as there was very little traffic on the campground road, and no golf carts. The owners work from dusk to dawn to put more into the CG. They recently added more sites w/ sewage, and have plans to expand. There are several local attractions within a short drive. The CG is also very clean. We would stay here again.

As other reviews have stated, terrain is very hilly. Camp sites have no grass and are a mess if it rains, so if you take pets, keep this in mind. There is a beautiful new pool in the top area. Wi-Fi is not free, but fairly reasonable. There are a ton of activities to keep the little ones busy. They staff is friendly and escorts you to your site. They were very accommodating in putting our family side by side. The only suggestion I have is not to allow check in during quiet time. We were kept up most of one night when a pop up checked in after midnight. We would definitely go back again!

This CG was decent for a few days. We went following a storm, and for several days a field adjacent to ours was underwater. There were geese swimming in the field. This said field was also a storage area for campers not in use. The pool is NOT heated, regardless of what they advertise. The fishing permit prices for campers are a little ridiculous, esp when we never even had 1 bite. They charge for things like tennis court, and I thought that was highway robbery considering the price per night to begin with. They do keep the seasonal and transients separate, and you prob will not see any restrooms nicer or cleaner than these. They also do not have any children s activities planned for weekdays. The W-Fi only works @ store.

From what we understand, new owners took over here a few yrs ago. Its a modest little CG in the middle of "God's country". The owners are SUPER friendly, and obviously try very hard to keep it up. Although it doesn't have a pool or a lot of on site activities, there are various family friendly activities on weekends. There is not a lot to do in the general vicinity, and there is no cell service for miles, so this is the place to go and get away from it all, literally. We were reluctant not to having sewage hookups, but the "honey wagon" came anytime you needed it.

I can't believe this CG has not been rated prior to my rating. This CG is very lovely, but is 90% permanent park models, or TT/MH's with permanent fixtures. There are several fishing area and playgrounds. The laundry facilities consisted of 1 W&D, and a sink. There are TONS of planned activites for kids on the weekends. Watch out for golf carts EVERYWHERE! Initially, we were told that we had the last available spot for a busy weekend, but when the owner (who was leading us to our spot) decided we wouldn't fit into this narrow spot on a steep incline, we were given a lovely spot on top a hill with a beautiful view. I would suggest if you stay here, insist you get a spot in the upper levels, which are mostly permanent park models. For the most part, the permanents are lovely, well maintained park models, but there are some run down, dilapidated campers that need cleaned up.

As stated in many other reviews, this CG is mostly seasonal. The seasonal folk are NOT friendly, to say the least. If you smile or say "hi" to them, they either ignore you, or glare at you. The sites are wooded, but also very narrow. You need to choose if you want your slide out to be out, or if you want your awning down. You probably will not have room for both. You also don't have much room for a fire if you put your awning down. There are unsupervised children EVERYWHERE! They are on bikes and foot, and dart or ride in front of cars, or campers attempting to park. The "quiet time" is NOT enforced. If it rains, there is mud EVERYWHERE!!! The staff that you may deal with face to face are all young(teens), and not friendly. However, the people who answer the phones are very personable and helpful. The pool is huge and beautiful, as is the lake. The lake is filtered and chlorinated. There are alot of planned activities on various weekends. We will not be back. I foresee this campground going all seasonal in the near future.

We went to this CG on our maiden voyage in our brand new travel trailer. The CG does get a good bit of noise from a nearby 4 lane highway, but the CG itself is very very nice. The staff is friendly, and there is alot for kids to do. The sites are clean, and they even pick up your trash daily.
